What fees are being charged by rental websites

I am new at this, so here's a good summary of what you can be charged as a future tenant :

Booking.com

15% commission per reservation 

VRBO/HomeAway

5% commission per reservation  (VRBO also charges the guest a fee that can range from 5-15%).

Airbnb 

3% commission per reservation (Airbnb also charges the guest a fee that can range from 5-15%)If Airbnb does not automatically collect and remit taxes where your property is located.Airbnb processes the reservation payment and charges you directly for their commission fee

So what's the best deal :

The best deal is a direct mail here so that you avoid all of this. But I do direct rentals only with people I can trust. Friends of friends are also welcomed.
